Authorities in Illinois are searching for the culprits who allegedly lured police and firefighters into a housing complex over the weekend before attacking them with bottle rockets and fireworks, The Telegraph reports.

Police say the attacks occurred late Sunday and early Monday in a housing complex in Alton, Ill., near St. Louis. No one was reportedly injured in the attacks.

Deputy fire chief Mark Harris said Tuesday that the assaults appeared to be intended as entertainment for hundreds of people who gathered at the Oakwood Housing Complex to watch.

Authorities said the emergency personnel who came under attack were responding to reports of fires, a shooting and illegal fireworks in the area.

No arrests have been made so far in the attacks.
