The average Fourth of July celebration usually involves quality time with family, sparklers, and a healthy serving of Aunt Susie’s potato salad.
But if you’re craving something different, try taking the family on a relaxing holiday to a theme park, where the whole gang can celebrate the Fourth with rollercoasters, live entertainment and — of course — fireworks!
Kings Dominion
Kings Dominion, located just twenty miles north of Richmond in Doswell, Va., has over 60 rides as well as a 20-acre water park, and their Star Spangled Celebration is being held June 30 through July 4. Some of the highlights include their biggest fireworks show of the season (held each night of the event), and plenty of live entertainment. Admission is also free to all active, retired or honorably discharged military personnel (valid ID required).
Tickets start at $45.

Walt Disney World
I think it’s safe to say that Walt Disney World has mastered the magic of a stellar fireworks show. The Magic Kingdom and Epcot will not disappoint this Fourth, when Disney’s “Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” will be held at the the Magic Kingdom on both July 3 and 4. Epcot will also pay tribute to our nation with “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” attraction, as well as special “Voices of Liberty” performances inside American Adventure held throughout the day.

Tickets for the Magic Kingdom cost $124 for adults and $118 for children aged 3 through 9.
Tickets for Epcot cost $119 per adult and $113 per child.
Park Hopper tickets, which include same-day admission to all four theme parks, are prices at $174 per adult and $168 per child.

Hershey Park
Hershey Park, nicknamed “The Sweetest Place on Earth,” is located in none other than Hershey, Penn. This family-oriented theme park boasts over 70 rides, but it’s also offering its annual Fourth of July celebrations. Its Star Spangled Picnic will be held on July 2, 3 and 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each night, a fireworks show will also light up the sky at 10:15 p.m. on the 4 (rain date set for July 5).
And if you’re hungry? The all-you-can-eat buffet is available for $15 per person (kids 2 and under eat free). Be sure to grab a special Fourth of July-themed king-sized milkshake, even bigger and better than last years!
Tickets cost $64.95 per adult; $41.95 per child aged 3 to 8, $41.95 per senior aged 55 to 69; and $26.95 per senior over the age of 70.

Six Flags America
Six Flags America, located in Baltimore, Ma., takes Independence Day to a new level by spreading their celebrations over three days! In honor of the holiday, there will be extended park hours starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 10:30 p.m. for pass-holders who bring in any coke product. Firework displays will also be held at 9:15 p.m. every night of the fest.

While there, be sure to check out the park’s tallest ride yet: Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth. This spin ride towers at 24 stories high, and reaches speeds up to 40 miles per hour.
