A few weeks ago, we stumbled on Condition Culture’s While tempted to try them on our furry friends, we instead tried Featherlocks, the human version, on ourselves. Here's what we thought:

I know a few people who rock feather extensions and I was a little curious to see if I could pull the look off, too. Obviously, they went to a professional hair stylist, but if you don't mind taking matters into your own hands, Featherlocks is a more budget-friendly option.
For less than twenty bucks, each kit comes with a single clip which holds several multi-colored feathers. The package claims that once in place, you can wash and style your hair as usual — even with a curling iron.
When my Featherlocks were in, I was a little disappointed. It suddenly occurred to me that I'm an adult. For most, it takes a profound experience to have this type of epiphany, but for me, all it took was Featherlocks. I’m not sixteen. I don’t go to nightclubs (anymore) and I’m certainly not in a rock band.
Don’t get me wrong — I like the idea of Featherlocks. They're a fun hair accessory, and I'm not above wearing one to a party. I just wouldn’t recommend it for everyday wear.

I had a feeling that feather extensions wouldn’t be my thing. I was skeptical of the whole craze to begin with, but what surprised me the most was that it wasn’t just a trend for kids.
After clipping them in, I can honestly say that I felt quite silly walking around with feathers coming out of my hair. It might be okay for a 13-year-old girl, but a grown woman? I felt like I was off my rocker.
That being said, I put the hot pink, blue, green and red feathers back into my hair while writing this review. I told myself it was for editorial inspiration, but perhaps it was to let the 13-year-old girl inside of me come out of her skin.
Is the look for you?
