Report: Gunman Opens Fire at Japanese Gym, Kills 2

A gunman burst into a Japanese sports gym and started firing wildly, killing two people and injuring at least three children on Friday, Reuters reported.

Firing a shotgun, the man walked through the gym lobby and then moved into the office, where he shot a 26-year-old female swimming instructor, Reuters reported.

The gunman continued to fire as he moved to a pool where children were taking swimming lessons and then fled, Reuters reported.

While shootings in Japan are rare, there have been a number of them this year in southern Japan after the splitting of a criminal gang into rival factions.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting was related.
