Police are searching for two teenage girls after a man was beaten to death in a homophobic attack in central London.

Ian Baynham, 62, suffered fatal head injuries when he was attacked near the South African High Commission in Trafalgar Square.

He died in the hospital on Tuesday night when doctors switched off his life support machine, more than two weeks after the September 25 attack.

Police are trying to trace three young people, including two teenage girls, who were caught on security cameras.

Baynham, from Beckenham, south east London, suffered severe brain damage when he was punched and kicked to the ground.

His attackers - thought to be aged between 16 and 20 - shouted homophobic words as they beat him.
