Florida Couple Married 59 Years Dies 3 Days Apart

MIAMI – A couple who was married for 59 years — and died three days apart — are being remembered for their love for each other.

The couple had lived in Florida since 1963. Walter Menzel died on July 13 at the age of 88. His wife, Elfrieda, died on July 16 at 85. Both died at their daughter's home in Miami-Dade County.

The Menzels had a son, a daughter and two grandchildren.

A memorial service for the couple is scheduled for Sunday, and they will be buried together at a later date. The Menzels would have been married for 60 years in November.
