VISTA, Calif. – "American Pie" star Chris Klein (search) pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge, was fined $1,800 and ordered to perform 150 hours of community service.
San Diego County sheriff's deputies arrested the 26-year-old actor Feb. 5 in Encinitas. Authorities said he had a blood-alcohol content above 0.20, more than twice California's legal limit of 0.08.
Klein entered his plea in Vista Superior Court, his attorney Blair Berk said.
"Chris dealt with this very seriously and responsibly and he's pleased that it's been resolved," Berk said.
Klein was featured in the 1999 film "Election." He played the character of Chris "Oz" Ostreicher in 1999's "American Pie (search)" and in the 2001 sequel.
