Bears DC Vic Fangio names his building blocks for the future

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio tossed the team's old 4-3 alignment this offseason and installed a brand new, 3-4 system in 2015. The first season was a little bit of an experiment, but he was able to find some players who really fit well in his scheme.

On Wednesday, Fangio named nose tackle Eddie Goldman and safety Adrian Amos as two players who will serve as building blocks for the future. He also pointed out cornerback Kyle Fuller as a player with some serious potential.

Goldman played all 15 games, starting 12, before landing on injured reserve this week. The second-round draft pick developed into a quality nose tackle over the course of the season, collecting 22 tackles and 4.5 sacks. At 6-foot-4 and 336 pounds, he's big enough to anchor Fangio's defense for years to come.

The secondary wasn't the strongest point of Chicago's defense, but Amos has been one of the most consistent contributors this year. The fifth-round selection has started every game and is the team's third leading tackler with 66 stops. He also has a sack and two pass defenses.

While Goldman and Amos are rookies, Fuller was a first-rounder from 2014. Although he is a holdover from the previous regime, Fangio will put him to good use while he can.
