Packers WR Jared Abbrederis is a fan favorite due to his local roots. Jeff Hanisch USA TODAY Sports

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis recorded the first reception of his NFL career on Sunday versus the Detroit Lions. It resulted in a 15-yard gain that converted a third-and-one to keep one of Green Bay's first-half drives alive.

Abbrederis hasn't contributed until now, but the former Wisconsin Badger is a fan favorite due to his local roots. He was a fifth-round pick in last year's draft, but a torn ACL forced him to injured reserve for his entire rookie season.

After missing most of this summer's training camp with a concussion, Abbrederis has worked his way back into the Packers' receiving mix. All of Green Bay is rooting for him to become a key contributor in Aaron Rodgers' offense, and this catch against the Lions was his first step toward becoming that player.
