Benching Colin Kaepernick might not actually fix 49ers' problems

Colin Kaepernick has been benched for Blaine Gabbert, but the 49ers say that they just want their young, struggling quarterback to take a step back and reset a bit.

But will that actually help Kaepernick? Dave Wannstedt isn't so sure.

"I would agree that he has not adjusted to the pro-style drop-back quarterback," he said, but "let's talk about supporting cast."

Wannstedt pointed out that in 2012, when the 49ers went to the Super Bowl, they were fourth in the league in rushing. Now they're 18th.

"I think you need to look at the entire football team," he said.
