The New York Giants walked out of New Orleans with a 52-49 loss and a few more injuries along the offensive side of the ball. Starters Larry Donnell and Geoff Schwartz were forced from Sunday's action with injuries, as was emerging running back Orleans Darkwa.
Per beat writer Jordan Raanan of True Jersey, head coach Tom Coughlin said that his starter at tight end, Donnell, is dealing with a muscle spasm in his neck and shoulder area. Donnell left the game after making a diving catch in the first half and did not return to action. The Giants are dangerously thin at tight end with Daniel Fells placed on injured reserve earlier this season.
Schwartz has started at right guard every game this season, and for the most part he has delivered what the Giants expected when they signed him to a multi-year deal during the 2014 offseason. He left Sunday's game with a left ankle injury, before trying to return only to leave again after one play in the fourth quarter. This is the same ankle that Schwartz broke during the 2014 season.
Darkwa made a lot of noise after his Week 7 performance, but his encore was cut short also by injury. He injured his back on a play near the Saints' end zone early in the second quarter and never returned to the game. Per Raanan, Darkwa claimed he would be fine to reporters after the game, but he looked like he was in obvious pain when meeting with reporters.
