Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett told reporters he missed the team's Saturday charter flight to Miami because of traffic troubles.

"I got caught in traffic," Mallett said, per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. "It's not the leadership role I need to exhibit."

In his postgame comments follwoing Houston's 44-26 loss, head coach Bill O'Brien said any discipline handed down to Mallet would be handled internally and was "not for public consumption."

Mallett's tardiness was the start of an unpleasant weekend in South Florida for the Texans, which saw the team lose in a blowout and star running back Arian Foster go down with an Achilles injury.
