Adrian Peterson passes two players on NFL's all-time rushing list

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had to work for every yard he got against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6. He carried the ball 26 times for only 60 yards (2.3 yards per carry) in Minnesota's 16-10 win.

Peterson, however, entered the game ranked 25th on the NFL's list of all-time leading rushers. He was within striking distance of Thomas Jones (10,591) and Jamal Lewis (10,607), and his output against the Chiefs was just enough to overtake both of them with 10,612 career rushing yards.

If Peterson continues to climb this list, he could find himself in the top 10 by the end of the season. He needs less than 700 yards to reach Marshall Faulk, who currently ranks 10th on the all-time rushing leader board.

Peterson still has a long way to go in order to claim the top spot, though. The 30-year-old All-Pro needs nearly 8,000 yards to catch Emmitt Smith.
