It was a night of firsts for San Francisco 49ers backup tight end Garrett Celek in Sunday night's loss to the New York Giants.

With starter Vernon Davis sitting out his second straight game due to a knee injury, Celek capitalized on the extra playing time by hauling in his first career touchdown catch.

An undrafted free agent in his fourth season out of Michigan State, Celek also delivered the first touchdown catch by a San Francisco tight end since the 2014 season opener.

Celek finished with three receptions for 26 yards and the 5-yard scoring pass that deadlocked the game at 20-20 early in the fourth quarter. It also enabled Celek to match his big brother, Brent Celek, who had a TD pass for Philadelphia earlier in the day in the Eagles' 39-17 rout of New Orleans.
