Those with short memories will know the 49ers have recently dominated the Packers, especially in the playoffs.
When they meet on Sunday at Levi's Stadium, Aaron Rodgers may look to exact a bit of revenge for losses to Colin Kaepernick in the 2012 and 2013 postseasons.
But before Kaepernick set playoff rushing records against the Packers, the 49ers struggled to beat the Packers in the playoffs -- and Brett Favre was San Francisco's chief nemesis.
Favre beat San Francisco in three straight playoffs -- 1995, 1996 and 1997 -- and the games weren't very close. The average final score was 28-14.
The second of those three games wasn't played on a Frozen Tundra but rather a mud-drenched field of slop. See above, and a bonus, below.
Favre only threw for 79 yards, but the Packers special teams scored two touchdowns, helped by Desmond Howard's 71-yard punt-return touchdown that opened the scoring.
The Packers beat Carolina the following week, then beat the Patriots to claim their third Super Bowl title in franchise history.
