The New York Giants are unlikely to see the anticipated return of wide receiver Victor Cruz in Week 3, but he is finally making progress on his mysterious calf injury. Despite missing Monday's practice, Cruz began running on grass again for the first time.

"They continue to extend his work, and they're pleased with that part of it," head coach Tom Coughlin told reporters when pressed about Cruz's status, per Giants.com.

The Giants could certainly use a boost on offense. The Giants' wide receiver corps outside of Odell Beckham Jr. have totaled just 77 receiving yards through two weeks. Cruz's replacement in the slot -- Preston Parker -- leads the NFL with five dropped passes.
