The Washington Redskins placed starting safety Duke Ihenacho on season-ending injured reserve due to a fractured and dislocated left wrist.

Ihenacho, in his second season with the Redskins, was hurt in Sunday's 17-10 season-opening loss to the Miami Dolphins. The initial diagnosis called for him to undergo surgery and return within six to eight weeks.

It marks the second straight year Ihenacho had his season end prematurely. He suffered a foot injury in Week 3 last week and was also lost for the season.

The Redskins made a move to bolster their depth in the secondary by signing journeyman cornerback Will Blackmon on Tuesday. Blackmon, 30, was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 5 but spent the previous two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, starting 12 games.
