After a weekend fueled with speculation about the Washington Redskins' starting quarterback for the regular season opener, a decision has been made. According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the Redskins have named Kirk Cousins the starter in Week 1 of the regular season.

Earlier last week, incumbent starter Robert Griffin III was expected to suit up for the team's third preseason game. Later in the week, it was revealed that he still had steps to go through in the league's concussion protocol.

Cousins started the third preseason game and completed 20-of-27 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown. He also threw one interception. Throughout the preseason, Cousins has been sharp. Through three preseason games, Cousins has thrown just 13 incomplete passes on 43 attempts.
