Browns outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo was back on the practice field Monday less than four weeks after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus.

Mingo is unlikely to suit up for Cleveland's preseason finale against the Chicago Bears, but he is on target to play in the team's season opener against the Jets. Mingo took part in individual drills during the 30 minutes of practice open to media, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.

"I'm out here every day just to make sure that I can be able to play if I'm called to," Mingo said via the team's official website. "Ultimately, that decision is on the trainers and my coaches, and we'll see how we go from there. If I had my choice, I'd be out there."

Mingo was hoping to get back to his pass-rushing roots after mustering just two sacks last season, when a shoulder injury forced him primarily into a pass coverage role. His injury has given Scott Solomon a chance to emerge and rookie second-round pick Nate Orchard is also in the mix despite a recent back injury.

Fellow defenders Justin Gilbert (hip flexor), K'Waun Williams (oblique), Jordan Poyer (concussion), and tackle Ishmaa'ily Kitchen (groin) were also back at practice Monday.

Converted receiver Terrelle Pryor returned after missing his third straight preseason game Saturday due to a lingering hamstring injury. Head coach Mike Pettine said Pryor will try to play on a limited basis in Chicago, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Northeast Ohio Media Group. Pettine said on Sunday that Thursday's preseason finale won't be a "make or break" scenario in terms of Pryor making the final 53-man roster.
