The Oakland Raiders staged a little Fresno State reunion by reuniting Derek Carr with former Bulldogs receiver Devon Wylie.
It almost didn't happen. Wylie, who signed with the Silver and Black on Tuesday, had to scramble to make his out team tryout.
It all started when the former 49er and Kansas City Chief tried out for another team last weekend. He flew into Los Angeles to visit a friend, then carpooled to Bakersfield, Calif. after.
Wylie got a call from the Raiders on Monday night. The wanted him at their Napa, Calif. training camp by 7:00AM the following morning.
One problem: Wylie didn't have a car. So he did what any wise millennial would do, and hailed an Uber.
He taxied to his Sacramento, Calif. home. Four hours later, he was on his way to Napa to eventually join the Raiders.
"I'm totally grateful," Wylie told the team's official website after his journey. "It's cool to get another chance when you almost see hope fading, and then a team calls and boom, it's like, 'oh shoot, let's go. I'm pumped.'"
