The Houston Texans are activating outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney from the physically unable to perform list Monday, meaning the 2014 No. 1 overall draft pick can return to practice.
Playing in just four games in his rookie season before undergoing a second knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, Clowney will take part in limited practice in his return.
"We're going to get him out there and he'll be in walkthroughs and in individual periods," head coach Bill O'Brien told reporters Sunday. "We'll add a little more each day."
Working with trainers, Clowney has been working on running along with change of direction drills to regain his mobility in anticipation of returning to football activities.
"We'll evaluate him at the end of the week," O'Brien said. "Monday will be a good day for him to put the gear on. He's worked real hard."
With a four-year, $22.27 million guaranteed contact, the Texans are hoping Clowney can make an impact in 2015 after recording just seven tackles in his injury-shortened rookie season.
