Dons end Celtic's winning run with a draw

Celtic saw its 17-game winning run in 1 draw by a resilient performance from Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium.

Anthony Stokes put the visitors in front in the 28th minute with his 13th goal of the season, getting around Jason Brown and slipping a shot into the back of the net from a tough angle.

But Celtic gifted Aberdeen an equalizer just before halftime as Gavin Rae unleashed a shot that took a wicked deflection off Andre Blackman and sailed over the goal line. Celtic had not conceded a goal in its previous six league matches.

The draw still preserves a 21-game unbeaten run for the Bhoys, who sit atop the Scottish Premier League table with a 21-point cushion. Neil Lennon's men comfortably lead the league with 75 points.

Aberdeen is in the midst of its own unbeaten run as the Dons have not lost a league match in their last nine outings. They sit in seventh place on 33 points after drawing their fourth straight match.

Hearts 2, Rangers 1

Glasgow, Scotland - Hearts piled more misery on Rangers as it came back from one goal down to earn a 2-1 road victory at Ibrox on Saturday.

The home side went in front just before halftime as Steven Davis tallied his fifth goal of the season, but Hearts overturned the deficit through Ian Black in the 58th minute and Jamie Hamill in the 79th minute to claim all three points.

Since entering administration and being docked 10 points, Rangers have lost two of three Scottish Premier League matches to effectively hand Celtic the regular season title. The Gers trail their Glasgow rivals by 21 points, sitting second on 54 points.

Hearts, meanwhile, snaps a two-game losing skid and a four-game winless run to improve to 39 points on the year.

Motherwell 2, Dunfermline 0

Dunfermline, Scotland - Motherwell bounced back from last weekend's loss to Celtic by claiming a 2-0 win over lowly Dunfermline at East End Park on Saturday.

Michael Higdon opened the scoring in the 64th minute before Henrik Ojamaa sealed the win six minutes later, dooming Dunfermline to its third successive defeat.

With its third win from its last four league contests, Motherwell moves to within three points of third-place Rangers. Dunfermline remains bottom on 19 points.

Hibernian 0, St. Mirren 0

Edinburgh, Scotland - Hibernian and St. Mirren played to a 0-0 stalemate at Easter Road on Saturday.

St. Mirren has now drawn five straight Scottish league matches, sitting ninth in the table on 31 points.

Hibs have taken four points from their last two matches but still remain second from bottom on 23 points.

Kilmarnock 0, St. Johnstone 0

Kilmarnock, Scotland - Kilmarnock and St. Johnstone were reduced to 10 men but still played to a 0-0 draw at Rugby Park on Saturday.

Both sides had a man sent off in the second half as Dean Shiels was ejected in the 76th minute after picking up a second yellow card. Cillian Sheridan also earned a second yellow and was given his marching orders two minutes from time.

Killie sits tied with Aberdeen on 33 points apiece while St. Johnstone sits fourth on 40 points after taking five points from its last three games.
