Buffalo Bills kicker Rian Lindell could be sidelined for about four weeks after suffering a shoulder injury during last Sunday's game against the New York Jets and Dave Rayner has apparently been signed as his replacement.

Rayner was reportedly among a host of kickers that were given a tryout and his agent revealed the signing on Tuesday afternoon with a Twitter post.

"Congrats to Dave Rayner on signing with the #Bills with Rian Lindell out with a shoulder injury," agent Paul Sheehy tweeted. "One ProStar guy stepping in for another."

Lindell was hurt last Sunday trying to make a tackle on a kick return in Buffalo's 27-11 loss to the Jets.

Rayner kicked for Oakland in a Week 7 loss to Kansas City when Sebastian Janikowski was sidelined with a hamstring injury. He did not attempt a field goal or extra-point attempt in the 28-0 loss.

The 29-year-old Rayner will join his eighth team since breaking into the NFL in 2005 with Indianapolis. The Michigan State product has also spent time with Green Bay, Kansas City, San Diego, Cincinnati and Detroit.

In eight games with the Lions last season, Rayner made 13-of-16 field goal tries. He is 55-for-75 in his career.
