With 16 goals on the year, D.C. United striker Dwayne De Rosario has claimed the 2011 Budweiser Golden Boot, given to the top goal scorer in Major League Soccer.

De Rosario finished the season tied on goals with Chris Wondolowski of the San Jose Earthquakes, but wins the award outright by recording more assists. The Canada international had 12 assists compared to Wondolowski's three.

This year De Rosario became the first player in MLS history to score goals for three different teams in the same season. Beginning the campaign with Toronto FC, he managed one goal in two games before being dealt to Red Bull New York, where he tallied two goals in 13 games. But a trade to D.C. United on June 27th saw De Rosario catch fire, as he found the net 13 times in just 18 games.

De Rosario sits seventh on the all-time MLS scoring list with 93 regular season goals through 11 seasons, but it is the first time he has picked up a single-season scoring title.
