Orlando, FL – Tiger Woods said in a blog post Friday that he is weighing future options regarding his choice of caddie and tournament schedule.
Woods missed the cut at the PGA Championship two weeks ago by a considerable margin, leaving him out of this year's FedEx Cup Playoffs, a first for the two-time playoff champion and former world No. 1.
He continued his slide down the world rankings this week to No. 36, a far cry from when he stood on top of the golf world. Now, after firing caddie Steve Williams and playing poorly in recent weeks, he's looking ahead to the future.
"I haven't decided on a new caddie yet, but am definitely thinking about it a lot," he said. "There's a few guys I'm looking at, but it all depends on timing. At this point, I'm in no hurry to make a decision."
Woods' next appearance could be at The Presidents Cup in November, though he would make the United States team only if captain Fred Couples selects him. Couples previously said he would take Woods, but has backed off that stance somewhat, saying he'd like Woods to have some more practice beforehand.
But without the FedEx Cup Playoffs in Woods' future, it's questionable as to when he'd play again on tour.
"I might add another PGA Tour event to my schedule," Woods said. "Right now, I'm looking at my options."
Woods is going to participate in a smaller event on Wednesday, August 31, announcing he will play in the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge in Verona, New York.
