Who will host the RNC in 2016?

All of the bids are in and the cities that will officially be vying for the 2016 Republican National Convention are:

Chairman Reince Priebus announced the full list of bidding cities via Twitter and the next phase for cities will be the bid presentation on March 3rd in Washington, DC. Cities will present their bids throughout the day--

In mid-March the RNC site selection committee will announce selected cities to travel to for site visits which could include all bidding cities or a narrowed list-- they will make the actual site visits in late spring and then select the finalists. Finally, in late summer/early fall the convention city will be voted on by full RNC.

GOP Primary Process in 2016

The RNC has formally adopted a new "rules" package to accelerate and compress the primary process in 2016 in an effort to fend off a lengthy, divisive fight.

The vote was 153 to 9.

"We no longer sit around and allow ourselves to slice and dice in a series of debate. We will have a much better process in 20016," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said.

The plan blocks off February for the Iowa Caucuses and primaries in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina, and Nevada. Then March hits, with big-ticket states like Florida and Texas. All primaries prior to March 15 are "proportional. Then, the rules provide for "winner take all" contests after that.

The plan also calls for a convention perhaps as early as late June or July. Primaries must be wrapped up about a month and a half before the convention.

The earlier convention would provide the GOP nominee better access to funds...which Mitt Romney couldn't tap until he formally secured the nomination in September.

Not everyone is in favor of the new plan. RNC national committee member Morton Blackwell says he does not like the abbreviated process in March and was one of the nine nay votes.

What do you think?
