Ed Sheeran is celebrating his two year anniversary of life without a cell phone.

The “Perfect” singer took to Instagram to share why he took a broke from his phone.

The singer decided to detach from his phone in December of 2015 and told followers, “I find myself seeing the world through my screen and not my eyes so, I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.”

Since then, Sheeran has returned with a new album, "Divide," and told E! News, "I feel like life is all about balance, and my life wasn't balanced. Taking it all off the scale balanced it, oddly enough."

Sheeran’s social media detox was not exclusive to Instagram. The star also deleted Twitter in July after frustrating experiences with internet trolls. Sheeran told The Sun in an interview that he was truly affected by Twitter trolls and comments.

"I go on it and there's nothing but people saying mean things. One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it,” he said.

Now that Sheeran has returned to the public eye, though he still does not have a cell phone, he remains connected with friends, family and fans in other ways that cause the same social media stress.

"I bought an iPad, and then I just work off of email, and it's so much less stress," Ed shared. "I don't wake up in the morning and have to answer 50 messages of people asking for stuff. It's just like, I wake up and have a cup of tea."
