If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that Clint Eastwood is kind of a bad-ass.
Whether you're an actor, a movie buff, or even the President of the United States, you have to admit that Eastwood's iconic performances have changed cinema for the better. What you might not know, however, is that he's also changed heavy metal for the better — albeit in a slightly more roundabout way.
"My favorite Clint Eastwood movie would undoubtedly have to go back to "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," says Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, who considers himself a huge fan of Eastwood's. "Of course I like the 'Dirty Harry' stuff — 'Make my day,' that kind of thing — but I think the character that Clint had developed [the Man With No Name] … I mean, he didn't even smoke, and he had used that cigar as a prop!"
"It just shows you how a really good actor can do improv and take something and make it work," adds Mustaine.
But Mustaine doesn't merely admire Eastwood; he also looks to the actor for inspiration when it comes time to record an album.
"I can't even remember the last record that I've sang when I haven't had a picture of him in the vocal booth," says Mustaine. "It just gives me that, like, kinda snotty, spit-kinda attitude, you know?"
