"So You Think You Can Dance" has crowned a new champion for season 12 in a redeeming fashion.

Miami-based tap dancer Gaby Diaz took the $250,000 prize and the opportunity to dance in Jennifer Lopez’s Las Vegas show.

Diaz, who was famously cut from her first audition this season and had to audition in Detroit again, was the judges’ favorite all season.

While she is a tap dancer, the 19-year-old Cuban-American wowed the judges and viewers with her versatility in other styles to keep her front-runner status until the very end.

“I’ve got a long list of people to thank for this,” she wrote in a Instagram post. “For right now, thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart.”

Diaz was part of SYTYCD’s “Team Stage” which was captained by Emmy-winning choreographer and former contestant Travis Wall. She beat out Hailee Payne (also “Team Stage”), and Jaja Vankova and Virgil Gadson from “Team Street,” whose captain `was tWitch.

The night came to a steamy end, with actress and dancer Jenna Dewan-Tatum performing a fiery romantic routine with Wall.
