"So You Think You Can Dance" has crowned a new champion for season 12 in a redeeming fashion.
Miami-based tap dancer Gaby Diaz took the $250,000 prize and the opportunity to dance in Jennifer Lopez’s Las Vegas show.
Diaz, who was famously cut from her first audition this season and had to audition in Detroit again, was the judges’ favorite all season.
While she is a tap dancer, the 19-year-old Cuban-American wowed the judges and viewers with her versatility in other styles to keep her front-runner status until the very end.
“I’ve got a long list of people to thank for this,” she wrote in a Instagram post. “For right now, thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart.”
