James Franco has just landed what we can only imagine is his dream role.

The "General Hospital" alum will star as twin porn kingpins in "The Deuce," a pilot about the rise of New York's sex industry that David Simon ("The Wire") is developing for HBO, TVLine reports.

Set in the 1970s and '80s, "The Deuce" takes place in the Times Square area and will chronicle the legalization of the porn industry, through the rise of HIV and emergence of cocaine as the drug of choice among city dwellers.

Franco's characters are based on real-life twin brothers who were key players in the mob's takeover of the adult entertainment industry. He's also executive-producing.

Simon is reuniting with George Pelecanos ("The Wire," "Treme") to co-write the pilot, which is set to begin production later this year in New York. This is just one of the pilots Simon is developing for HBO, the other being a modern-day drama set on Capitol Hill that he's co-producing with Carl Bernstein and Ed Burns.

Franco is also slated to star in J.J. Abrams' adaptation of Stephen King's "11/22/63" for Hulu.
