The Toronto International Film Festival has announced a star-studded lineup for its 40th annual event, including anticipated performances from Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Julianne Moore, and Bryan Cranston.

Ridley Scott's "The Martian," starring Damon and Jessica Chastain, will have its world premiere at the festival as will the fact-based drama "Freeheld," starring Moore and Ellen Page as a couple fighting for equal marriage rights.

The Whitey Bulger thriller "Black Mass," starring Depp, the Lance Armstrong movie "The Program," starring Ben Foster as the cyclist, and "Trumbo," starring Cranston, will also screen.

Jean-Marc Vallee's "Demolition," with Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts, will open the festival.

The festival, which helps set the awards season agenda, runs from September 10-20. More films will be announced in the coming weeks.
