LOS ANGELES – Back in December 2014, Lindsay Lohan tweeted a photo of herself and model sister Ali alongside two members of Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes.
Now we know why.
In September, the iconic pop band will release their 14th studio album, “Paper Gods,” featuring none other than Lindsay Lohan.
“Paper Gods,” produced by Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Mr. Hudson and Joshua Blair, will also include Janelle Monae, former guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers John Frusciante, and violinist Davide Rossi.
But its Lohan's name that seems out of place, even though the actress no stranger to the recording studio. By the time she was 18, Lohan was a platinum selling recording star, having released released two studio albums, “Speak” (2004) and “A Little More Personal” (2005).

Of course that was several rehabs and career restarts ago.
So what's Lohan’s role with this album? Reps for Lindsay Lohan and Duran Duran were staying mum when we called them, but Rolling Stones writer Steve Baltin says he doubts its stunt casting.
“The important thing to remember is that an iconic band with a dedicated fan base -- they aren’t going to do anything simply for novelty,” Baltin told FOX411. “Sure, it will serve a purpose on the record, which, featuring production by Ronson and Rodgers, will be awesome.”
Duran Duran has also announced a list of summer festivals starting in the U.S., followed by a tour of the UK.
Maybe Lindsay will make a cameo.
