NBC's "Nightly News" has lost to ABC in the ratings for the second straight week and only the second time since 2009, increasing pressure on the network to decide whether suspended anchor Brian Williams will return.

The Nielsen company said ABC's "World News Tonight" averaged 8.3 million viewers last week to NBC's 8 million. NBC had won the ratings competition for 288 straight weeks until ABC won the week before.

The NBC newscast has been in limbo since Williams was suspended in late February, with Lester Holt filling in. There's no word on when NBC's internal investigation into allegations that Williams spread false stories about his reporting will be finished.

The "CBS Evening News" finished with 6.8 million viewers.
