Being a superhero is a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it. And that somebody should be filthy stinking rich, because all those gadgets, cars, and fanciful capes don't come cheap.

The folks at Buddy Loans (hint hint) have recently compiled a list of the richest superheroes and supervillains in the comic book universe, with Marvel superhero Black Panther taking the top spot. As the ruler of an entire fictional nation — and its reserves of the precious mineral "vibranium" — Black Panther boasts an estimated weath of $500 million, according to Buddy Loans.

Iron Man, Batman and Metropolis villain Lex Luthor were named as first, second and third runners-up, respectively. It should be noted, however, that not a single character in the top four spots boasts an actual superpower other than heightened intellect, martial arts training, and of course, immense wealth.

In other words, if you want to become a superhero, you've basically got two options: you can stand around at a nuclear testing facility, just waiting for a happy accident; or you can become filthy, filthy rich, and buy all the gadgets and training your little heart desires. (That's the lesson we're taking away from Buddy Loans' research, anyway.)
