Night three of "The Voice" blind auditions continued pretty much where they left off last week — with coaches bickering as they choose singers that will fit accordingly in their teams.
While some came close, no singer forced a four-chair battle, showing that the coaches – Adam Lavine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton – are being more selective.
One who got three chairs turned was 15-year-old soulful singer Timyra-Joi of San Diego, Calif. The teen belted out Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire” and got Aguilera, Shelton and Green to turn around.
“I was cheering you on,” said Aguilera, the first to turn over. “The end, are you kidding me? You nailed the run.”
Shelton and Green attempted to sway the teen, but ultimate she chose the “Genie in a Bottle” singer.
Texan Preston Pohl, 26, also got three turned chairs after his rendition of “Electric Feel” by MGMT. He impressed all coaches, but Aguilera would not budge enough to push her button. Lavine said with the tone and quality of his voice, he turned the MGMT song into a Marvin Gaye song.
“What can I do to get you on my team?” Lavine said. “I will be very angry if I don’t get you on my team.”
Pohl ultimately chose Lavine as his coach.
The one singer many fans were probably waiting to hear was Briana Cuoco, younger sister of “Big Bang Theory” actress Kaley Cuoco. The show’s producers teased her performance since day one and it finally arrived.
The 24-year-old is her sister’s personal assistant, but wants to pursue music. Kaley Cuoco is not only happy for her sister, but her biggest supporter even if it means having to hire someone new.
“She’s deserved this her whole life,” Kaley Cuoco said.
Briana Cuoco performed “You and I” by Lady Gaga which had Aguilera turning her chair first followed by Green. Her reaction? To sit on the stage and take the moment in.
Aguilera said Briana Cuoco has raw talent and she really enjoyed the performance. Green said he felt the power her voice.
“And I want to be close to it,” he said.
Cuoco ultimately chose Aguilera as her coach, citing “girl power.”
“The Voice” returns with more blind auditions Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
