When a Boston radio station held a contest to find Taylor Swift's biggest fan, they probably weren't expecting a 39-year-old man named Charles to win — but that's exactly what happened.

With the help of sites such as 4Chan and Reddit, Charles' friends managed to persuade enough people to vote for him in KISS 108's "Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan" contest, by promising that he'd "make a complete ass of himself by blatantly just sniffing her hair with cameras rolling."

It worked.

Then, the contest was abruptly canceled. "Disappointingly, we have determined that the integrity of the 'Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan' contest has been compromised," read a statement posted to KISS 108's website.

A source close to the radio station claims they came to this decision not because of Charles' apparent creepiness (or Taylor's refusal to meet Charles), but rather because some contestants employed spam-bots to rig the results. "They were more than a week away from the end of the contest when it was compromised and they had to shut it down," added the source. "There was never even anything close to a winner."

In any case, Charles isn't winning that meet-and-greet with Swift.

But don't feel too bad for Charles. He and his friends have reportedly set their sites on a similar contest being held by New York's Z100, this time to meet Selena Gomez.
