Juanes Talks MTV Unplugged, Medellin and More
Colombian star Juanes talks to Fox News Latino about his live album MTV Unplugged, Medellin and more.
Just three months after sweeping the Latin Grammys, rock star Juanes is bringing his Colombian swag to the 55th Annual Grammy awards Sunday.
Juanes reportedly will also be the only Latin artist performing at the tribute concert for Bruce Springsteen on Friday night.
"It will be a wonderful thing!" Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy, told the Associated Press. "A few years ago we had to Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez in a segment singing in Spanish and English. When we do this, it is a positive thing, it shows our diversity and that music is a universal language."
The “Camisa Negra” singer is also up for a Grammy for best Latin pop album for his “MTV Unplugged Deluxe Edition” record, which was a collaboration with Dominican singer and songwriter Juan Luis Guerra.
In the same category are fellow artists Ricardo Arjona for his album “Independiente,” Fonseca for “Ilusión,” Kany García for her self-titled album and the Jesse & Joy duo for their work “¿Con quién se queda el perro?"
Nominated in the best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative category are Campo for their self-titled album, Mexican singer Carla Morrison for her album “Déjenme llorar,” Quetzal for “Imaginaries,” Sistema Bomb for “Electro Jarocho” and Ana Tijoux for her album “La Bala.”
Exuberant folk singer Lila Downs was nominated in the best regional Mexican Music Album category for her “Pecados y milagros” record and Los Cojolites also earned a nod in the same category for their album “Sembrando Flores.”
Los Tucanes De Tijuana, Mariachi Divas De Cindy Shea, Gerardo Ortiz, Raúl Lara Y Sus Soneros, Eddie Montalvo, Marlow Rosado Y La Riqueña and Romeo Santos are also up for a Grammy.
