TV host Maria Menounos might have earned perfect scores Monday night on “Dancing With the Stars,” but this wasn’t enough to convince America she should stay.

The “Extra” host found out the hard way she was an extra on the dancing competition and America wasn’t having it. Still, she said DWTS was an opportunity of a lifetime.

“I learned so many things,” Menounos said. “I learned how strong I was, I learned to persevere,” she added.

The audience, in awe after learning that Menounos would be going home, booed in protest. But it was too little, too late.

Menounos’ dance partner and former Mirror ball trophy winner Derek Hough said Menounos reminded him again of why he loves DWTS.

“She’s not just a champion of dancing,” said Hough. “She’s a champion of life.” Hough added how impressed he was with Menounos’ determination to carry on in the competition even after severely injuring her rib and foot.

Joining Menounos in the bottom two was NFL superstar and super bowl winner Donald Driver who, like Menounos, has been consistently performing well throughout the show.

With Menounos out, Driver and dance partner Peta Murgatroyd join Cuban hunk William Levy and Cheryl Burke, as well as Opera singer Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas in the finals next week.

Other than eliminations, details were revealed about Jenkins’ injury after she hurt her back performing her samba routine and collapsed on the floor.

“It was so quick, like something twinged,” Jenkins’ said. Turns out the singer experienced a back spasm and quickly recovered overnight. She was overjoyed when she found out she made it to the finals.

A few performances entertained the crowd.

Grammy-winning singer Alanis Morissette sang as well as American Idol alumn Carrie Underwood.

R&B singer Mary J. Blige also took the stage as former DWTS dancer Julianne Hough performed a “Rock of Ages” medley.
