Chris Evans impressed by the 'morals and values' of Captain America

Chris Evans cemented his status on the superhero A-list when he brought “Captain America” to life on the big screen last year. Now that he’s back having reprised the role in Marvel’s “The Avengers,” in theaters May 4, Evans has gained even more respect for the fictional U.S. war hero.

“I love the fact that he is a good man, that he actually has morals and values,” Evans told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “I wish he was able to crack a few more jokes, but I know that is not his style.”

Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) said that seeing all these tough guys in their suits was somewhat “surreal,” and it brought back memories of his own childhood pining to save the world – cape and tights style. .

“I always loved comics so it’s great to be in something that has this many bonafide superheroes in it… I always thought I was the Flash because I can run really fast. I thought I was Aqua Man at one point because I swam so much, but I never saw myself as Superman because I knew I couldn’t fly,” he continued. “But anybody that could do something that was almost normal always made me feel like it was possible for me to be one of them. I still spend three days a month in a comic book store reading up.”

And if this “Avengers” fares well at the box office, director Joss Whedon said audiences can expect to see more, although there is one character he wishes he could include.

“Batman,” he added. “But I think he works for a different company."
