Leslie Carter, the sister of Nick and Aaron Carter, was battling an addiction to prescription medication when she died Tuesday, TMZ reports.

The 25-year-old "House of Carters" reality star was living with relatives in upstate New York and trying to kick her addiction, according to the website.

Family members found her unconscious when they returned to the house after running errands. Her infant daughter was not with he when she died, TMZ reports.

"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter,” the family told Fox411 in a statement. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter.  We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."

The cause of her death has not been revealed, and no additional details have been released.

Like the rest of her family, Leslie was involved in music. She signed a deal with DreamWorks Records back in 1999, but never released an album, according to the New York Daily News.

She released the single “Like Wow!” in 2001, which appeared on the soundtrack for the film “Shrek.”

She and husband Mike had a daughter, Alyssa Jane, who was born in April of 2011.
