Winston Churchill's Dentures on Auction in England

Published November 17, 2014

Associated Press

LONDON — Part of a set of dentures used by Winston Churchill to disguise a lisp is going on sale.

The partial dentures are being put on auction with an estimated value of about $7,000.

A duplicate set is kept by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The organization says the dentures were a tool that the wartime British Prime Minister relied upon to overcome a childhood lisp.

The set to be auctioned Thursday by Keys Auctioneers is being sold by the son of the dental technician who was commissioned to make them.
