Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

A Venezuelan journalist has been freed eight days after she was kidnapped.

The Globovision television station says Nairobi Pinto was freed Monday in the town of Cua in Miranda state.

It's not yet clear why she was seized on April 6 by three armed and masked men.

Her father Luis Pinto says the captors never communicated with her family.

The country is plagued by high rates of kidnapping, which has targeted even foreign diplomats and professional baseball players.
