UN humanitarian chief: Frustrated that Syrian talks ended with no deal for trapped civilians

U.N. humanitarian chief Valerie Amos says she is frustrated that Syria peace talks ended without a deal for getting aid to people in blockaded communities.

Amos says she is "extremely concerned that, while the discussions continue to try and find a political solution to the crisis, ordinary men, women and children are dying needless across the country and others are desperate for want of food, clean water or medical care."

The Geneva negotiations ended Friday with no concrete results. An agreement to allow aid convoys into parts of the ravaged city of Homs stalled.

Security Council diplomats are considering a resolution to pressure Syria's warring sides to allow humanitarian access. It would follow-up on a statement last year that marked a rare display of council unity on the Syria crisis.
