TV report: 25 Ukrainian citizens arrested in Russia on suspicion of plotting acts of sabotage

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

A state-controlled Russian TV station says 25 Ukrainian citizens have been arrested in Russia by the country's security agency on suspicion of planning sabotage.

NTV television reported Thursday those arrested included three activists from Right Sector, a Ukrainian nationalist group that played a role in the ouster of Ukraine's pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych in February. The report didn't say when the suspects were arrested or give their names but included footage of three suspects in custody.

NTV also reported the suspects had instructions to take pictures of Russian military movements on the border with Ukraine and were plotting to launch their sabotage last month in Russia.

There was no immediate comment from Russia's security service.
