Tunisia is lifting the curfew imposed last month in response to sometimes violent demonstrations against unemployment around the country.
The country's Interior Ministry announced Thursday that the security situation had improved. The unrest was touched off by the death of a young man who lost out on a government job and climbed an electric transmission tower in the Kasserine region. Protests spread to several regions, including the capital, Tunis, where stores and a bank were looted.
Imposed Jan. 22, the curfew lasted from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.
