The host of Mexico's top-rated national morning news and commentary radio show is demanding that her station reinstate two investigative reporters who were fired for misusing its image.
Carmen Aristegui is rejecting the firing of Daniel Lizarraga and Irving Huerta by MVS Radio and says their return is a "non-negotiable condition" for her to continue her show. She said Friday that their dismissal was an assault on freedom of expression.
The two were part of the investigative team that set off President Enrique Pena Nieto's conflict of interest scandal over a personal home built by a favorite government contractor.
MVS said the two used the station's image without permission to promote MexicoLeaks, a digital platform for leaks that could lead to corruption investigations.
