Swedish police suspect two 13-year-old boys of killing man

Swedish police have questioned two 13-year-old boys who are suspected of killing a 65-year-old man in southwestern Sweden and turned them over to social welfare authorities.

Police spokesman Tommy Nyman says the two boys were arrested late Tuesday after the man had been found dead earlier in the day on a farm near Varberg, south of Sweden's second largest city of Goteborg.

In Sweden, children under age 15 cannot be prosecuted.

Nyman said Wednesday that "witness accounts and objects linking the boys to the scene" led police to detain the boys, who had left a nearby foster home on Monday. They were not identified.

He said it was "pretty unusual" for young people in Sweden to be suspected of a serious crime like murder.
