Spanish-led consortium wins bid to build $5.4 billion subway lines in Peru's capital

A consortium including Spanish construction companies ACS and FCC says it has been awarded a 3.9 billion-euro ($5.4 billion) contract to build and operate a subway line in Peru's capital.

Nuevo Metro de Lima says in a statement its winning bid is led by ACS Group subsidiaries Dragados and Iridium, and FCC subsidiary Vialia, alongside Italian companies Impregilo and Ansaldo, as well as Peruvian company Cosapi.

Madrid's subway system will act as an adviser. The project will build Metro Line 2 in Lima and a branch off Line 4 to reach the city's international airport. It will cover 27 kilometers (16.7 miles) and include 27 stations serving 600,000 travelers daily.

FCC said Saturday its participation is 19 percent, and ACS's will be 25 percent.
