MADRID (AP) — Spanish bullfighter Julio Aparicio has left hospital after recovering from a horrific goring in the throat by a bull.

Aparicio was seen on Spanish television news channels leaving October 12 hospital in Madrid dressed in a blue suit and waving to well-wishers who gathered there.

The matador was gored on May 21 when he slipped in a bullring, fell to the ground and a 1,168 pound (530-kilogram) bull drove his right horn through Aparicio's throat and out his mouth.

The hospital said in a statement Friday that Aparicio had recovered from facial and cervical trauma and a subsequent respiratory infection which kept him in its intensive care unit.
