South Korea's president faces political scandal allegedly involving aides and her brother

South Korean President Park Geun-hye is facing a political crisis over allegations a former chief adviser pulled strings behind the scenes on key state affairs.

Prosecutors hauled in Park's brother, allegedly embroiled in factional feuding with that ex-aide, for questioning Monday. On Saturday, a police officer involved in the scandal was found dead in an apparent suicide.

The scandal centers on ex-aide Chung Yoon Hoe who allegedly regularly met Park associates to try to exert influence on Park's personnel management. Those reports are based on leaked documents and came from an office headed by another presidential aide who's reportedly close to Park's brother.

Park's office says the documents contain groundless rumors.

Park faces regular criticism that her leadership style is similar to the heavy-handed style of her slain dictator father.
